AEGON repaid another part of the financial aid it received from the State at the end of 2008.

The insurer buys back € 750 million worth of securities. AEGON pays the issue price of € 4 per security as well as a premium of € 375 million. The overall return for the State on the entire repayment to date now stands at 18.1 per cent. In November 2008 AEGON received a capital injection from the State to withstand the unforeseen and external shocks on the international financial markets. The institution issued € 3 billion worth of securities.

The insurer already indicated it has the intention to repay the entire state-aid package before the end of June 2011. To date € 2.25 billion has been repaid.
