Dutch agricultural trade increases in 2007
Monday, 14 July 2008
The value of Dutch agricultural imports and exports in 2007 was up by 14.6 and 8.8 percent respectively, on 2006 figures. The sharp increase in the value of imports can largely be put down to the fact that import prices increased more than export prices.
The price of raw materials such as grain, oilseed, animal feed and dairy products also contributed to the increase. Additionally, the volume of imports also increased more than that of exports, by 8.8 as opposed to 6.4 percent. The growth in agricultural exports was in line with the growth in total goods exports. There was, however, a difference in the pace of growth in imports: total goods imports rose by only 7.3%; a smaller increase than the increase in agricultural imports.
